The Ganewatte medicinal plant garden is located in the intermediate zone of Sri Lanka and is the home to a collection of tropical plants that are used for medicinal purposes. Out of the 2 acres of the garden, only 22 acres of the area are currently occupied by the herbs while the rest is used for coconut cultivation. It is situated in the North Eastern Province about 15 miles away from Kurunegala and the intermediate climate is ideal for the most indigenous herbal plants. The Garden supports conservation, economic development, and education programs in the country and contains an extensive and unique collection of medicinal plants from around the country and the world. It is open from 7.30 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. during the whole year.
