Thalladi is a small town in Mannar Area, Northern Province of Sri Lanka. Thalladi is one of the five sanjeewani drops in Sri Lanka according to Ramayana tour of Sri Lanka including Kachchativu island, Ritigala Hills, Dolukanda in Kurunegala district and Rumassala rock in Galle. Therefore Thalladi is one of the Sri Lanka Ramayana Tour site.
Thalladi is a part of Mannar island which is a marshland rich of bird life close to the Mannar town. This is situated at eastern end of Ram setu, just on the opposite site to the legendary bridge believed to be build by Rama and Hanuman and vanara army in order to reach Sri Lanka by connecting Rameshwaram island and the Mannar island. ramayana facts states that this was immersed when some parts fell down on the way from the flight of Hanuman with the Dronagiri mountain to Lanka.
Legend of Thalladi Mountain According to Ramayana Tour in Sri Lanka, Hanuman had been sent to Himalaya to fetch some medical herbs to treat the injured at the war to liberate Sita Devi. But he had forgotten the name of the herb and so he brought the whole chunk of the peak containing the herbs to Sri Lanka. Ramayana history in Sri Lanka states that the mountain fragment brought by Hanuman slipped and broken in to five pieces and fell down at five different places all over the Sri Lanka which are known as Sanjeewani Drops and those places are cosidered as important Sri Lanka Ramayana Yatra places.
