Express train service from Colombo to Mannar

A new express train service between Colombo and Talaimannar, in the north of Sri Lanka, was launched on September 15, 2023. Two trains will leave from each city each day as part of the train service. It is the quickest way to get between the two cities and will take around 7 hours and 30 minutes.

The new train service is expected to boost tourism and economic development in the north of Sri Lanka. It will also make it easier for people to travel to and from the north, which has been affected by conflict and civil war in the past.
